Congrats to the senior team, winning two nil v St James gate after extra time with two superbly taken goals by Adji.
Paul Perth's charges took control of the game in extra time after the ten men of St James gate ran out of steam after holding the boys in blue to a close, tight encounter. Poor decision making in the final third and poor final ball looked like it might cost Newbridge but the solid back four and the hig work rate paid dividends. Newbridge did have the lion share of possession and pressed high and finally got the break through when adji poked home a fine cross from the right. After that the stuffing was knocked out of the ten men from Dublin, who earlier lost a coach sent to the stands by the referee, but had been ran ragged by the intense work rate of adji and kenny and their team mates when they went down to ten men before the end of normal time.
Town now progress to the next round of the Metropolitan cup and a good lesson for all the school boys watching the game, respect the referee and 'keep the mouth shut!' Despite being 2 divisions below Town James Gate played some good football and held the boys in blue but the loss of their player for 'mouthing' at the ref cost them.
Thanks to St James Gate for a good well, close game and great to see so many out watching again, especially the young schoolboys.
