NAAS 2 – 15 CASTLEDERMOT 0 – 8
Leading by six points at the interval after playing with the breeze Naas
dominated the second half for a comfortable victory. Two early second half
goals by star forward Ronan Joyce laid the foundation for this dominance. Although Castledermot fought hard in the middle of the park but they couldn't convert possession into scores. The Naas forward combination of Conor Mellett, Ronan Joyce and Joey Cocoman became more dominant as the game went on resulting in a thirteen point victory.
Playing with the breeze in the first half Naas opened the scoring with
points from Conor Mellett and Ronan Joyce. Castledermot reduced the arrears after seven minutes with anOisin Doherty point. Between the fifteenth and twewntieth minutes Naas scored four points without reply. Brian Kane scored a "45" and then Ronan Joyce finished off a Conor Mellett move. A Rory Mc Dermott , Conor Ferguson move ended with a Paul Sullivan point. A solo Ailin McDermott effort left Naas 0 – 6 to 0 – 1 after twenty minutes.
A Gavin keating free reduced the arrears. Another Brian Kane "45" and a
Mellett point put Naas six ahead at the intrval.
Castledermot were out of the blocks first in the second half with a John
Joe Mahon point after good work on the left. However Naas replied with a
point from Brian Kane & a goal from Ronan Joyce. Gary Hendy answered with a point for Castledermot.
Shane Bergin(Naas) and Gavin Keating (Castledermot) swapped points.Another Joyce goal after a David Gahan pass followed by a point from Gahan himself put Naas 2 – 11 to 0 – 5 with fifteen minutes to go. Before the end Naas added points from Ronan Joyce (0 – 2), and Brian Kane. Castledermot completed the scoring with points from Gavin Keating and substitute Jack O'Neill.
