Magh Cuilinn Junior hurlers made the most of their escape last week to make no mistake this time. Magh Cuilinn were always in control and the defence prevented any repeat of the previous Sat goal blitz conceding only 4 points while the attack registered 12 in difficult conditions.
Both teams had undergone some changes with Sylane surrendering several players to Junior A in vain the previous Monday. Magh Cuilinn were without Michael Dempsey and David Faherty but Kevin O’Donovan and Conor Noone did return. Conditions were difficult underfoot following heavy overnight rain and defences on each side may have been glad of the glue like conditions on the goal line on occasion.

With Kilbeacanty getting the better of Liam Mellowes on Saturday to reach the final, Ballinasloe stand between CIMC and their going one better than last year when they were narrowly defeated at the semifinal stage. That is unlikely to be until the weekend of 18th as Maigh Cuilinn play their long anticipated Minor final next Sunday in Athenry at 1pm.
