“We Looked Like Giants” are a group comprising of students from Scoil Ruáin, Killenaule. Two of the band hail from our parish of Drangan and Cloneen. They are bango player Conor Cuddihy who is a son of Michael and Helen Cuddihy , Knockroe, Drangan and female vocalist Jessica Brett who is daughter of Liam and Caroline Brett , Cappagh , Cloneen. Other members of the band are guitarists Séan Bermingham and Paul Gayson from Mullinahone. Percussionist Shane O’Connell and quitarist Kieran Murphy are both from Killenaule and on keyboards Teresa Lanigan from Gortnahoe. After three rounds of the competition within County Tipperary they were one of just three acts out of the original 127 who entered the competition in Tipperary last October to go through to the munster finals. A total of twenty nine acts competed in the Munster final with 12 acts to progress to all-Ireland semi-finals and just one act the overall winner going straight to the all-Ireland final. So there was great excitement when the band were crowned the overall winners collecting the €1000 prize and now go straight through to the televised National Final of the competition which will take place at The Helix, Dublin on March 17th. On Saturday night last the band performed to a full house in Cloneen Hall and received a great reception from the large crowd. We wish “We looked like giants” the very best of luck in the All-Ireland final and look forward to their televised appearance and who knows they may be the next U2.
