We sincerely thank outgoing chairman Jimmy O’Brien for time and effort he put in to our club over the last three  years .

We wish Nicholas the very best as he takes over the position of chairperson of our club. Nicholas has of course vast experence    having already served as chairman from 1984 to 1994. We also welcome the new young officers of our club. It’s great to see players getting involved in the running of the club.

There was a long discussion on what teams St. Patrick’s club would enter for the 2013 championships. The economic downturn is having a serious negative impact on all Gaa Clubs with so many of our young people emigrating. We have lost nearly half of our junior team which competed in the munster final in 2010 to emigration and in a small club like ours where you don’t have the numbers coming on it leaves you struggling to field teams. Over the last decade St. Pat’s have been entering two adult teams in championship junior A & B. This is unlikely to continue.
Our under age grades of minor and under 21 are also struggling for numbers. There was a lengthy debate as to whether our club should enter teams of it’s own in the 2013 championships or amalgamate with another club to field teams next year. It was decided to investigated the option of amalgamating with another club for minor and under 21 as it would give our players an opportunity to play in a higher standard competition and it was belived that we would fail to field teams on our own.
The appointment of management of our Junior teams was adjourned to a later date.
Lets hope 2013 will be a successful year for the St. Patricks club.
