Spectators felt we had all the signs of a team with not enough to play for, andso it was not to be our day. We were behind 25-13 going in at the break –Darragh O’Neill and Ger Flaherty getting tries for us with a penalty for WillieStaunton. In the second half we had a try from Neville Melbourne but this wasthe total tally as Lansdowne stormed to victory.
Final score: Lansdowne 44 – 18 Young Munster
We remain third in the table and the highest placed Munster team flanked byDublin teams in first (Clontarf -59 points), second (St.Mary’s -58 points), andfourth positions (Lansdowne overtook Cork Con to move to fourth) with only athree point lead over Lansdowne, we have 48 points and they have 45. Cork Conare sixth on 44 points.
In the final two games, Lansdowne play Old Belvedere awayand Clontarf at home. Con play Garryowen away and Belvo at home. We take onDolphin at home on April 14th and are away to Mary’s for game 18 on April 21st.If we want to hold onto third position for the finish we need to make the gamecount against Dolphin on Saturday week, and reap revenge for the defeat wesuffered when we met them in Cork earlier this season.
This season isn’t over yet, we’ve had one hell of arollercoaster year and a fantastic journey for the supporters, but it’s up tothe boys now to finish it out with our heads held high. We need huge supportfor our final home game against Dolphin. The team has given us some greatmoments during the league, let’s show our appreciation by coming out in forcefor one last time in Tom Clifford Park on April 14th.
