Ireland took on Spain in their second of three encounters taking place this week in Santander. After a 2-1 loss on Tuesday the Green Machine will be happy to have secured a 3-2 win over the home side today in hot conditions.

Spain took the initiative in the 19th minute with a drag to the top right hand corner but just 3 minutes later Conor Harte was on hand with a drag of his own to equalise low past the keeper. Spain went ahead once again in the 26th minute with some creative work from Lleonart who weaved into the circle getting a shot away and a goal for his individual effort. Despite Spain dominating much of the first half Ireland equalised before half time when Drew Carlisle on his second cap picked up a bouncing cross popping it into the air to volley first time past the keeper for what can only be described as a top class goal Half time Ireland 2-2 Spain.

The second half was a more even affair but Ireland scored the winner in the 54th minute after they turned over Spain at the half way line and strungtogether a series of quick passes leading to a great pass across the circle enabling Carson to pick up the bouncing ball and hammer home for the 3-2 win. The game went right to the wire when Spain secured a penalty corner on the hooter but David Harte was on form to make a great save from their drag effort and ensure the 3-2 score line remained in tact.

Final game takes place Friday at 13.45 (Spanish Time)
