On Saturday evening last, we exited the Peter Hanley Motors Longford Senior Football Championship when we were defeated by Clonguish in the Quarter Final at Pearse Park.
On the resumption of the second half, we allowed Clonguish score
1-6 in the opening ten minutes to take control of the match and pull further ahead.
However,
we
never gave up and the Clonguish goal keeper was in fine form, with two
superb late
saves from Declan Farrell and Paul Murtagh, while earlier on Tommy
Doyle hit the
cross bar with a rasping shot from a quick free. We will now be saying
farewell to
Sean Connolly who we enjoyed having around for the past 12 months and
hope he returns for another year in the very near future. We wish
Clonguish all the
best in the semi-final.
