SENIORS Last weekend saw the end of our Championship run, when Ramor Utd defeated us by 1-19 to 2-10. The qualifier run obviously served Ramor well, as they flew out of the traps and were 0-11 to 0-2 up after just 15 minutes, and while we managed to slowly narrow the gap, in truth, Ramor were always in control. A disappointing end to the campaign and we wish Ramor the best of luck in the remainder of the championship. A full report will appear on the website later on in the week. With the remaining league games not being played until after the county final, there will be a six week break until we meet Ballymachugh and Redhills, with one victory needed to ensure Division 2 status. JUNIORS Focus now turns to the Juniors, who begin their long-awaited championship campaign on 13th September at home to Gowna at 5pm. After a dodgy start to the league, the Junior’s finished in a rich vein of form, and will be hopeful of gaining an extended run in this year’s Junior B Championship. MINORS Fresh from topping the Division 1 league, the Minors will need to continue that good form as they were drawn away to U-16’s The U-16’s play in the quarter-final of the championship this week (Tuesday) when they face Redbridge up in Redhills. A tough game is guaranteed but hopefully they can build on their good league run from earlier in the season. U-14’s What a week for the U-14’s!! On Tuesday night, they hosted Ramor Utd in the championship quarter-final and on a horrible evening they gained a superb 3-5 to 1-6 victory against a fancied Having lost out in the league semi-final in a high-scoring classic earlier in the season, our lads were clearly up for this. From the start they tore into it, and 30 minutes later, led 1-9 to 0-0. The inevitable Gaels comeback arrived in the 2nd half but while the gap was narrowed, the young Stars were always in control, and but for the crossbar, would have put the game beyond doubt long before the end. At fulltime, they had recorded a famous 2-11 to 1-8 victory that was enjoyed by players, management and parents alike. A huge congratulations to all involved and hopefully the job can be finished of on Tuesday week (16th) when they face the winners of Shercock/Castlerahan in the championship final under lights in Breffni. U-10’s The annual U-10 blitz will be held in the park this Sunday (14th) at 1pm. With eight sides from Cavan and neighbouring counties involved, there will be a feast of football and no shortage of excitement and enthusiasm. Well worth dropping down, if even just for a short while. CLASSIC CLIPS Our 2nd classic match feature is proving very popular on the website. The 1985 Roinn B U-12 Final victory over Drumalee bringing back many highlights for those involved and even those that weren’t. JUVENILE DRAW The annual juvenile draw for All-Ireland tickets takes place in M&F’s on Friday night. This is the only fundraiser for the juvenile club and your support is appreciated. Tickets can be bought of any committee member or in M&F’s or Pat Faulkner’s shop. As mentioned, the draw takes place this Friday, and a good night is guaranteed.
