Lorrha GAA News for 22 June

Senior: The seniors suffered a disappointing 3-13 to 0-9 defeat to JK Brackens in the first round of the County Senior Hurling Championship in Moneygall on Sunday evening. The defeat sees us drop into the Seamus O’Riain Cup where we face Moneygall this Sunday, 23rd June in Cloughjordan at 7.30pm.
Junior Hurling: The Junior ‘A’ Hurling Championship is likely to get underway on this Saturday, 22nd June with Burgess our first opponents. Check North Board fixtures for details.
Minor: Lorrha will play Clonakenny/Moneygall in round 1 of the Minor ‘B’ Hurling Championship in Moatfield in the next fortnight. Shannon Rovers and Templederry are also in the group.
Under 16: The U16 ‘B’ Hurling Championship will get underway on Monday, 1 July when Lorrha travel to Portroe.
Under 12: The Under 12’s lost to Silvermines last Monday week while their most recent game against Kilruane was played on Tuesday last; news next week. Next Friday, Lorrha host Ballina in Moatfield at 6.30pm.
The Gathering: The Club will be hold a Gathering in the GAA Centre on this Friday, 21st June from 9.30pm as part of the Lorrha & Dorrha Heritage Festival. The year ending in ‘3’ has been lucky for Lorrha down the years and we have invited players and mentors from the 1983 Intermediate Football and Under 21 ‘B’ hurlers, 1993 Minor hurlers and 2003 Junior ‘B’ hurlers, all of whom won North titles in those years. This is a parish social night where everyone is invited. Music by DJ Ray.
Cúl Camp: This years Kellogg’s Cúl Camp for 6-13 year olds takes place in Moatfield from 15-19 July. The cost remains the same as last year: first child – €55, second child – €45 and third child – €40. Places in the camp can be booked on line at www.gaa.ie/culcamps. Promotional packs of Kellogg’s Cornflakes and Rice Crispies feature a unique code, which can be used by parents online to receive a €5 discount.
Social Dancing: There is no Social Dancing on this Friday night due to the GAA Reunion. Dancing will resume on Friday, 28 June.
Sympathy: Lorrha GAA Club would like to sympathise with the Duggan family, Portland, on the death of Kathleen Duggan who died last week. May she rest in peace.
