Lorrha GAA Notes for 4 April

Senior Hurling: Upperchurch/Drombane 3-5 Lorrha 3-13
Lorrha qualified for the semi-final of the division two hurling league with a comfortable victory over the home-side in Drombane on Sunday afternoon.
The game was played in atrocious conditions but both sides produced a decent game with Lorrha dominating with Colm Duggan and James Dunne striking for two early goals as Lorrha took a 2-7 to 1-2 half time lead. An early second half goal from Trevor Hogan set increased the lead as Lorrha eased to victory

Junior A: Lorrha 2-13 Kilruane 0-15
Lorrha got their Junior A League off to the best possible start with a good win over Kilruane in Moatfield on Saturday evening. Lorrha trailed 0-9 to 1-4 at half time with the goal coming from Donal Kennedy.
A Conor Sullivan goal midway through the second half put Lorrha ahead with Sean Cleary, Willie Hough and Cian Hogan adding crucial scores to seal the win in a game where both sides must get great credit for serving up a good game in heavy conditions.

Under 21 Hurling: Lorrha take on Nenagh Eire Og in the first round of the Under 21 ‘A’ Hurling Championship this weekend. Check fixtures for full details.

Under 16 Football: Lorrha v Nenagh Eire Og in Moatfield on Monday next, 7 April at 6.30pm.

Under 14 Feile: Lorrha had an easy win over Silvermines in the quarter final of the Feile na nGael competition on Sunday evening in Moatfield.

Under 14 Football: Kilruane MacDonaghs v Lorrha in Cloughjordan on Wednesday, 9 April at 6.30pm.

Under 12 Football: Shannon Rovers Gaels v Lorrha in Ballinderry on Friday, 4 April at 6.30pm.

Under 8 and 10’s: Outdoor training continues in Moatfield on Saturday at 11am.

Membership: Membership for 2008 is now available. €30 – Adult Players; €20 – Non Playing Adults; €15 – Minor/College Students and Juveniles (with match ticket entry); €10 – Juveniles (without match ticket entry). All membership is payable to club registrar Jack Maher or any committee member.

Tipp Draw: The 2008/2009 Tipperary Draw will get underway in May and our draw coordinators will be calling on existing players in the next few weeks. New players are also welcome with €50 from every ticket going to the club.
The club are also offering a Lorrha Lotto/Tipp Draw package where for €200, you would be entered into the Lorrha lotto for one year and the Tipperary. Anyone interested should contact the club secretary on 086-0515324.

Golf Classic: Lorrha GAA Club will be holding a Golf Classic in Birr Golf Club on Friday, 20 June. The entire day has been booked with the timesheet being operated by Mick Liffey (087-2578370) and Tony Coen (087-6219639). A team of four will cost €240 with a meal being provided afterwards. More details over the coming weeks.

Lotto: The numbers drawn on 25 March were: 10 – 17 – 28 – 30. No Winner.
The Lucky Dips were: Ger Mannion, Kathleen Maher, Carmel Lambe, Martin Kennedy (Graigue) and Ann & PJ Nevin. The Winning Promoters were McInerneys Gala, Kellys and Davy Dunne. Thank you for your continued support.

The number of players who have joined is growing by the week. It is easy to play and players can play for a number of weeks meaning they don’t have to play every week.

We would ask that all our promoters would leave their tickets at a collection point in the parish no later than twenty four hours prior to the date of each lotto draw as it allows our draw workers to operate the draw smoothly on the night without having to track down tickets.

Old Time Dancing: Our Old Time continues in the GAA Clubhouse on Friday night to the music of Midnight Melodies. Dancing 9.30pm to 12.30am.

Sympathy: Lorrha GAA Club would like to sympathise with the Godlington family, Lisballyard, on the death of John Godlington who died suddenly on Sunday night. May he rest in peace.
