The St. Patrick’s Junior hurling team of 1963 were the first hurling team to win a south hurling title for the club. It was not repeated again until 1991 when two members of this ’63 team Joe Brennan and Ned Barnable were the team mentors. Five members of this team are deceased namely  John Egan, Paddy Gleeson, Eamy O’Connor, Joe Brennan and Jimmy Phelan. They were all represented by family members on the night. Others who couldn’t attend for different reasons  also were represented by family or friends. One member of this team Eddie Clancy was only 14 years of age at the time and of course went on to win many more titles with St. Pat’s and also a county senior hurling title with Moycarkey. Michael Power in his address also praised the team’s mentor Mickey Lahart who only passed away a few years ago at the age of 101.
Many of this team continued to promote hurling in the club for many years as coaches and team mentors
