There is an option of dining at the Dog Track on the night. The 50 euro a head charge covers a 3 course meal, entrance fee and a 5 euro bet. The meal is limited to 100 places and interest is very high. Please contact Willy Forde 086-8332932 to book your spot.

On The Night

In addition to the fantastic racing on the night there will also be a raffle, auction and music by local favourites Albert Flynn & John Nolan. However the two events arousing most interest are the Local Edenderry Derby and the Player Relay Race.

The Edenderry Derby

This novel race will see locally trained and owned dogs battle it out for the coveted Edenderry Derby. Last Saturday lunch time the dogs were paraded at Edenderry GAA Pitch, with all in fine condition. Already the rivalry is building among the local trainers and rumours of secret training camps and methods are floating around the town. Among the local trainers and owners involved are Paul Ryan, Timmy Ennis, Liam Brereton, Jimmy Grady & Pat McBride. There is intense speculation that local dog ‘Mile high Mc’ fresh from a huge win at Shelbourne Park may be making an appearance at the Midland Track.

The Players Relay Race – ‘A Dash for the Reds’

In addition to the dogs the fastest players in Red, across the GAA Family in Edenderry will be battling it out on the track. Our Senior & Junior Footballers, The Ladies Footballers and the Hurlers have joined forces to provide the final race of the night. It will consist of a 4 leg relay race around the track featuring the speed merchants from each respective team.

Four teams have been formed each featuring a lady footballer, a junior footballer, a hurler and a senior footballer will complete a circuit of the Mullingar Track. The ladies will commence the race and will no doubt come out of the traps flying hard to hand over to the Junior Footballers, the Hurlers will battle it out on the middle leg before the Senior Footballers bring it down the home stretch and aim to win the race for their team. Intense speculation surrounds the fitness of certain runners in the race, however at the launch last Saturday all runners remain tight lipped and weren’t giving much away.

The four teams are:

D’state adda showers
Pull Timber
Reff-err-eeee
Go round da cones
