New Chairman elected

The AGM of CLG Naomh Maolmhoig Caislean A Mhuilinn took place on Thursday 6th December 2007 at 7.30pm. There were 67 members in attendance. There were also 9 apologies.

The outgoing Chairman Miceal Crilly did not seek re-election for 2008 due to heavy work commitments, and thanked the outgoing officers and committee for all their support during his two years at the helm. In his report the Secretary thanked Miceal on behalf of the Club for the enormous contribution he made as Chairman and thanked him for his decision to stay on as a member of the Club Executive.

The following Officers were elected for the following year

Chairman – Ciaran Crilly(elected);
Vice Chair– Rory McCabe (unopposed);
Runai – Ronan King (returned unopposed);
Treasurer – Cillian Keavney (returned unopposed);
Asst treasurer – Francis McAlinden (returned unopposed).

In addition the following members were elected to serve on the Club Executive for the coming year

Miceal Crilly, John McCartan, Liam Sloan, Mickey McVeigh (Players rep), Ollie Doyle, PJ Maquire, Barney Cunningham, Ciaran Brannigan, Finty McGreevy and Finty Og McGreevy, Martin McClean, Ciara Ui Fhlanagain Pickering, Seamus Owens, Gerry Dougherty, Tony McAtamney Paul McArdle, Shay Flanagan.

The vacant posts of Registrar, PRO, and Games Secretary will be filled from the Club Executive, or co-options will be sought.

The first meeting of the new committee will take place on Monday night at 8.30pm sharp.

Following the Secretary and Treasurer Annual Reports and the Chairman’s address the Club’s 5 year development plan was discussed and a number of development options examined and debated at length. In the end option 3, to proceed with installation of a full floodlighting scheme at the Club’s new Dublin Road pitch
received the most support among the members present. The new Committee will now bring this project forward during 2008.

Other important business discussed included a revamped Club Coaching Structure prepared by Miceal Crilly which the meeting agreed to adopt with the inclusion of a forum for youth members to share their opinion on coaching

The Executives Committee’s decision not to increase membership fees this year was endorsed by the meeting as was their decision to apply a small increase to players insurance fees. The Executive Committee propose to increase the cost of playing insurance from £20 to £25 this is due to the loss incurred by the Club due to increase insurance fees.
The Executive Committee recognizes that there may be financial strain on players at the beginning of each year and have proposed to offer the following deal to make payments easier for players;

Annual Membership for 1;
Playing Insurance for 1;
2 tickets to the Club Annual Awards Night (Burrendale Hotel (15th February); and
1 ticket for the 600 Club draw.

4 monthly payments of £50 paid by standing order from January-April

Life membership is to remain at £300 for another year but the Committee also intends to increase this in 2009. Members should be encouraged to avail of the current Life membership rate before the planned increase.
