A LATE SURGE BRINGS JOHNSTOWN BRIDGE. LEVEL

Naas shared the spoils with Johnstown Bridge yesterday in round two of the Aldridge Cup.

Johnstown Br. opened the scoring with points from Eoin O’Donoghue and Harry Morrin. Naas replied with a point from Brian Kane. A goal after twelve minutes by Harry Morrin followed by a point from a sideline by Eoin O’Donoghue put Johnstown Br. five points clear 1 – 3 to 0 – 1 after twenty minutes. Three unanswered Naas points, two from John Joyce and one from Ross Bergin, reduced the arrears to two points. A late point from an Eoin O’Donoghue free left Johnstown ahead at the interval 1 – 4 to 0 – 4.

Naas went ahead with two goals in three minutes at the start of the second half from Tommy McGarr and Neil Farragher and were four points up with a third John Joyce point. Naas led 2 – 5 to 1 – 4 after ten minutes into the second half. However four unanswered points from Johnstown Br. in the last twenty minutes, three from Eoin O’Donoghue, brought the sides level at the finish.
