All-Ireland Final

November 8, 2018

At Croke Park on Sunday Cork’s hopes of a three in a row of Senior Hurling All Ireland titles vanished as Kilkenny came out on top. In the end Cork lost by just 3 points 1-16 to 1-13. We could easily have been beaten by more and on the other hand we could have snatched a draw at the end. It was not to be however and the Kilkenny Cats were purring on Sunday evening. We can have no complaints however. Of course there will be ‘ifs’ and ‘buts’, hindsight is a great gift but on the day the Jackie Tyrell led side deserved their victory.  To our own Brian Murphy and near neighbour Timmy McCarthy we say well done lads. Since 2003 this team has given us massive enjoyment, twenty championship games played, 17 won and 3 lost. This team owes us nothing. They captured the public imagination here in Cork. Their dedication and discipline is legendary and they are simply a brilliant bunch of players whose pride in Cork both on and off the field is very obvious.
