All-Ireland Queens

Offaly Ladies footballers won their first All-Ireland title since 1981 when they had a 2-11 to 0-11 win over Wexford in a well contested final in Croke Park on Sunday. It was a super display and well done to all concerned and special congratulations to all the Rhode Ladies Aoife Byrne, Hannah McMahon, Emma Dalton, Amy Kerrigan, Orlagh Heavey, Niamh Malone and Katie Killeen it was a huge achievement for them all they did their clubs and county proud. The Offaly Ladies have now won the Division 4 League, Leinster Junior Title and the All-Ireland, a great achievement.

Rhode Senior footballers qualified for their second successive senior county final when they had a 0-20 to 1-10 win over great rivals and neighbours Edenderry in the semi final on Sunday. Rhode laid the foundation for this win when they lead at the interval by 0-10 to 0-7 the Rhode points coming from Niall McNamee (4), Niall Darby (2), Mark Dunne (2) and one each from Stephen Hannon and Paul McPadden after playing against the breeze in the first half. The second half was much same story by the 11th minute Rhode lead 0-15 to 0-8 scores coming from Niall Darby and Niall McNamee. Rhode will now play Tullamore in the final they had a 1-10 to 0-6 win over Clara in the other semi-final. The final will be played on Sunday 13th of October.

There was no winner of the Rhode GAA Lotto for the week ending 30th of September for a Jackpot of €15,000. The numbers drawn were 9 13 20 22. The club like to thank all those who supported the draw and thanks to Doyle’s for the use of their premises and for their help and cooperation.
