Clonmore GFC Annual Awards for 2009.
Although the middle of May, last Saturday night we paid tribute to the club members who excelled in 2009 both on and off the playing field and acknowledged past achievements.

Minor Player went to Niall Humphries

Young player award went to Enda McGrath.

Junior player of the year was James ‘Scott’ Doyle

Intermediate player of the year was midfielder Ronan Doyle.
Juvenile Clubman of the Year went to Cavan native, Johnny Maguire.

“Hall of Famewent to Jim Doyle, formerly of Water Street, an excellent player with the club for many years from the late 60s to the early 80s and uncle to Junior player of the year, James. Jim was a fast and incisive half forward who played alongside his bothers, John, Tom & Mick, in the 1980 campaign that saw Clonmore win the Intermediate Championship beating Nurney in the final on a scoreline of 0-10 to 2-3. Another brother, Paddy, was also a fine footballer who played for Clonmore for many years. Jim was co-author of a publication with the late Jack Byrne in 1981 entitled ‘Our Sporting Heritage’, a major undertaking which recorded the history of gaelic games in the area and in our club. Congratulations to Jim on this well deserved elevation into the Hall of Fame.

Clubman of the Year went to a very deserving recipient who really did not get enough praise and acknowledgment for the tremendous amount of work he did throughout the year. A committee member, delegate to the county board, PRO and one of the main people who has our club website both up to date and ever growing in size with uploads of pictures and facts from years past. We would also like to acknowledge the amount of work he put into last year’s 125 GAA Anniversary Celebrations where he lead the charge of putting together a great Clonmore stand in the exhibition in Dr. Cullen Park and in the clubhouse. This year’s Clubman is Ger Doyle.

A special presentation of a bouquet of flowers was also made by Chairman Tom Doyle to Lily Purser for the tremendous work she continues to do, year in year out, looking after all jerseys for both the adult and juvenile teams.
