U12 Football championship: Last Friday night was the appointed night for the quater finals of the football championship/Go Games. Both Ballina teams faced away trips, with Blue team going to Portroe and Reds away to trip to Moneygall. The Blues were never really in the game and never led despite exceptional individual performances. They met a bang in form Portroe team and they were too strong for the Blue half of the Ballina’s u12s. Having lost by the bare minimum to Moneygall in the group game, the lads were determined to overturn this result and literally ran at the Obamas men from the first minute.Ballina were very well served by the assured presence of Tadgh Maguire in defence, the energetic work rate of Josh Egan, the economic excellence of Cian Neill and positive play of Robbie Breen, Matthew Power and Neil Webster used the ball intelligently and Conor Power and Corey Ryan were a constant threat with the ball in hand. The McEvoy brothers, Jack and Joseph had the Moneygall players run ragged and Ben Wallace was always available. At half time, Cameron Macauley was introduced and his direct impressible brand of play was a headache that Moneygall just did not need. The final score  Ballina1-6 to Moneygall 0-00.  We are  away to Borrisoleigh in the sem-final. Well done to all.
