Year of Faith 2012/2013: The 50th anniversary of the beginning of the Second Vatican Council is being marked with the opening of the Year of Faith and the Synod of Bishops in Rome on the theme of the New Evangelization on Thursday, October 11th. This will contribute to reaffirming the Church’s desire to engage with greater courage and zeal in the mission to bring the Gospel to the very ends of the earth. Over the next few weeks, I will give more information on the events and significance of this special year.

County Final : Ballina were defeated by a stronger and more experienced Silvermines team in Thurles last Sunday. Ballina got off to an uncertain start until Fergal Collins got their first point after 8 minutes. They recovered well after this and were just 4 points adrift at the interval. The Mines now playing with the wind, upped the ante to a level which Ballina could not match and after Silvermines scored 2 goals the game was killed off as a contest. The teams renew rivalry again next weekend in the North Final. This game will be played in Nenagh at4pm and your continued support is critical.

Self Help Collection: Pat Boucher Hayes and the club would like to thank everyone who contributed
to last Sunday’s collection and to the Volunteers who stood the tables before the Masses.

Great night guaranteed for both the ladies and also the gents. Tickets €15 available from any committee member. This fundraiser will aid the GAA club and Watermans Alzimers Unit.
