Under 16 Hurling Final: Congratulations to our under 16 hurlers for capturing the county title for the first time in the history of the club. The county final which was played in Borrisoleigh last Saturday
in ideal weather conditions against Knockavilla Kickhams. Ballina dominated this game from the
start and were leading by 1-11 to 0-6 at the interval. In the second half they took complete control
of the game running out eventual winners 2-20 to 1-7. This was a great team effort from Ballina who dominated almost in every sector of the field. Captain and two goal hero, Conor Maguire, led the Ballina team and estatic followers through the town to the clubhouse where they were greeted by many family, and club members.

Intermediate Hurlers: This team clashed with Sean Treacy’s in Newport on Saturday in the County Intermediate Semi-Final, before a large attendance, and in glorious weather conditions. Treacys got off to a good start and were leading 0-3 to 0-1 after 10 minutes. However, Ballina gradually came back into the game and were leading 0-9 to 0-3 at the interval. The turning point of the game occurred nine minutes into the second half when bang in form Stephen O Brien was grounded in the square. Martin McKeogh converted the resultant penalty. From here on Ballina never looked back and ran out eventual winners 1-19 to 1-10. They now play Silvermines in the County Final in Thurles next Sunday,
before the Senior Final. We wish them the best of luck and appeal for your support for the final.
