Friday Church Services in Ballina: After 10am Mass, the Blessed Sacrament is exposed until 5pm. Prayer of the Church and Benediction at 1.05pm. Why not come along and pray awhile.

Clonmacnoise Youth 2000 Summer Festival: Thursday, August 9th to Sunday, August 12th are the dates for young people aged 16-35 who don’t want to miss this opportunity to experience the Catholic faith and meet many new friends. The festival is nicknamed “!Holy Oxygen” with over 1000 young people from all corners of Ireland attending. More information on 01 6753690.

Diocesan Pilgrimage to Knock: This pilgrimage takes place on Sunday, August 5th. A bus will leave Ballina at 9am. Further details can be obtained from Margaret on 061 376925.

Waterman’s Lodge: This facility is now open over one year and is providing care to the person with Dementia/Alzheimers, living in our local communities. We are looking for musical volunteers to give one hours of their week or month to play music for the clients. This would be of great benefit to the clients and our service. More information from Mairead on 374888.

Feast Day of St. Lua: The feast day of one of the patron saints of our parish, St. Lua, falls on August 4th. To mark the special day a short prayer service will be held at the memorial plaque in the small park on the Birdhill Road in Ballina at 1pm on Bank Holiday Monday, August 6th. St. Lua lived on an island just behind the plaque which was flooded 85 years ago to facilitate the Shannon Electricity Scheme. An optional walk will then take place immediately after the Prayer Service to the Mass Rock in Killary, where Mass will be celebrated at 3pm.

Best of Luck: Best wishes to Stephen O Brien and the Tipperary Minor Football team who are playing in the All Ireland Minor Football semi-final next weekend. Our local minor hurlers were defeated by a stronger Kilruane team. The game was played in Ballina last Thursday evening and they now play Toomevara in Toomevara next Thursday week in the next round of the competition.

Under 21 Munster Hurling Final: Facebook tickets for the Tipp-Clare game in Ennis on Wednesday, August 8th at 7.15pm. Patrons must have tickets in advance, so order now. Adults €15 and Students €10.
