Intermediate Hurlers: This team opened their County League campaign with a home game against a very sharp Clonakenny team. Clonakenny took the game to Ballina from the start and were leading 0-10 to 0-3 at the interval. Despite scoring a goal early in the second half from a Brian O Connor free, Clonakenny continued to dominate the game and eventually ran out 0-14 to 1-5 winners. Ballina had to start the game minus the service of a number of their first choice players but it is hoped to have some of them back for the next game.
