Ballycumber 2—7 Clara 1—4.
Ballycumber qualified for a first ever Div. 1 League final with a fully deserved victory over Clara in Tubber on Tuesday evening. Rory Guinan started the scoring with a point and soon afterwards Colin Daly was pulled down in the square and Rory drove the ball to the back of the net.Fergal Daly kicked two great points to extend the lead. Clara were awarded a penalty which was converted in the 25th minute to leave the half time score 1—4 to 1—1. Rory scored another point in the 2nd minute of the second half and Fergal added another in the 10th min. Ritchie Dunne pointed a 45 in the 17th and Eamonn McCabe burst through the defence in the 21st minute to score a goal which left the result in no doubt. Clara were restricted to a point from play and from a free in 25 minutes. Rory added one more point in the 22nd min. and Clara got their last point in the 31st min. to leave the final score at 2—7 to 1—4. Team. The Final will be played on Saturday evening at 7.00 in Mucklagh against Edenderry and the Div. 3 Final will be played in Killurin on Monday at 7.30 against Daingean. It is unique for our Club to reach two League finals and to play both of them within two days of each other only adds to the occasion. We ask all our supporters to attend both games give the players all the encouragement they can.
Next Friday at home we entertain Kilcormac/ Killoughey in the Junior A championship and on Saturday at 5 pm we clash with Gracefield in the Senior Football Championship in Mucklagh. Best of luck to all involved in all those games.
