Ballycumber needed to win this game to avoid a relegation fight, having lost to Clara in round 4. Colm Quinn and Eamonn McCabe were the dominant players in the first quarter when Ballycumber gained a grip on the game. Colm scored points from a free and from play inside three minutes.Two minutes later Fergal Daly kicked a great point from distance. Colm scored a goal after taking a pass from Eamonn in the sixth minute. Adrian Kelly kicked a point with his left foot a minute later. The flood gates opened four minutes later when Eamonn punched the ball to the net and almost immediately Colm was in again to score his second goal. 3–4 to 0–.1. The scoring slowed down in the next 15 minutes with points from Colm, Eamonn, Rory Guinan[2] and Adrian leaving the half time score at 3—9 to 0–4. Eamon started off the second half with a point in the second and a goal in the eight minute. With the game safe Ballycumber replaced Colm, Rory, Ritchie Dunne, Colin Daly and Sean Hackett with Declan Daly, Keith Lawler, Mick Egan, Ciaran Grennan and Conrad Casey and Fergal, Adrian[2] and Conrad completed the scoring with points. On Friday evening the Junior team bowed out of the championship when they lost at home to Daingean after a good performance which for half the game looked like a victory was possible but the strength of the opposition told in the end.
