Ballygarvan had a very easy win over Ballymartle in this Junior Football League game played under lights at Riverstick last night. In truth this game was over after 15 minutes at which stage Ballygarvan led 1-7 to 0-0. Early points from James Brown, Donal Sweeney, Joe Spillane and Damien O Sullivan saw Ballygarvan open up a lead before Ger Spillane found his big brother Joe with a peach of a pass from 60 metres and the big full forward made no mistake as he billowed the Ballymartle net. Stephen White was causing panic in the Ballymartlw defence with his surging runs, while Alan Butler, Shane O’Leary and Alan Murphy controlled the backline. White kicked a point before Matthew O’Riordan ran through for Ballygarvan’s second goal to leave the score at the break 2-8 to 0-2 to Ballygarvan.

Ballygarvan kept the pressure on Ballymartle in the second half, despite using all their five subs. Ciaran O’Sullivan pointed from wing back before Liam Dillon and Denis O’Regan and Shane O’Leary also found the target. Matthew O’Riordan scored a stunning goal after being put through by a superb pass from Mark Kennefick. The final minutes saw a welcome return to action by Gary White after a prolonged absence with injury. Final Score  Ballygarvan 3-14 Ballymartle 0-5.
