CLUB DEVELOPMENT WORK.

Great progress is being made in the work to complete the new Hurling Wall and Astro Turf area. These two facilities are Phase 1 of our Planned Development. Phase 2 will be launched publicly in the next few weeks. There is a major financial commitment needed to complete all the work and we will be asking for the support of our community of Bartlemy, Rathcormac and Kildinan to ensure that we can provide top class facilities.

Senior Hurling League 2011.

Our first game in the 2011 Senior Hurling League will take place on this Thursday night, March 10th. For this game we are away to Carrigtwohill at 7.30. Our hurlers have played the Fenians (Kilkenny) and Burgess (Tipperary) in challenge games over the last two weekends. Our first round game in the Senior Hurling Championship has fixed for Watergrasshill on Friday June 3rd at 7.30.

Cork V Galway.

Cork had a good win over Galway in the Allianz League at Pairc Ui Chaoimh last Sunday. For our juveniles it was a special day as they took part in a Go Game during the half time break. Well done to all concerned, players, parents and mentors.

Junior Football.

  We lost by 0 14 to  1  5 against Carrignavar in a Division 1 JFL game Last Saturday. Our preliminary game in the East Cork JFC takes place on St. Patricks Day.

Social Initiative.

Meetings have been held lately to start up a Social Initiative in the Parish for those over 55. The ethos of the movement is to care for the over 55’s in our community by ensuring they are integrated and included in a range of activities. A trip to Croke Park and the National Stud and Japanese Gardens is planned for Monday April 11th.  The all-in cost will be €25. Minor Football.

At Pynes Field on Sunday afternoon last we played our  second game in the Minor Football League. Our opponents were Whites Cross/Whitechurch/Grenagh amalgamation Gael Og. The visitors were quickly into their stride with four points. Paul Dee got a brace of points for us and these scores settled our lads. With the backline playing very well our forward had plenty of ball and they used it well. In a high scoring game we had a great win on a score-line of 6  8 to  3  6.

Next weekend we are away to Setanta but at the time of writing we have no definite time venue or date but all players will be notified.

 

Car Boot Sale.

Last Sunday saw the first Car Boot Sale of 2011, with a huge crowd. Thanks to all club members who helped out both on Sunday and also  with the preparations on Saturday morning.

Confirmation.

On next Monday pupils from both schools in the parish receive Confirmation in Rathcormac Church at 11 am. Hopefully it will be a great and memorable day for all those involved.

County Board Fixtures.

The 2011 County Board Championship List came out last week. Pairc na Bride has been picked to host Avondhu v Imokilly in the Co.SHC and Kilworth v Blackrock in the Co. IHC.

Meeting.

The next Club Executive Meeting is on next Monday night March 14th in Arus de Barra at 8.30 pm. All Executive Members are asked to attend.
