Cork GAA Members Draw 2010/2011

The new series of draws in the 2010/2011 Cork GAA Members Draw will commence on Friday week October 29th when the September and October draws will be held. The tickets for the draw are €10 per month or €100 for the year. Out of each €100, the Bride Rovers Club will get €45. If you are in the draw at present, your promoter will be contacting you over the next few days. If you wish to join the draw for the first time just get in contact with Club members or Club Treasurer James Bermingham.

Junior Leagues

Both of our Junior teams (Hurling & Football) who competed in Division 2 of the East Cork Leagues for 2010 were in the shake up for promotion and final spots. The hurling team were level on points with Midleton and we thought there would be a play off to decide which team went forward. This year however, the Board used scoring averages and as Midleton had a higher scoring rate than us, we lost out in this competition. In the Junior (2) Football League the position is clearer. We have qualified for the final of this competition along with Glanmire. No date has yet been fixed for the final. Glanmire are in the semi final of the Junior ‘B’ Grade football championship so it all depends on their progress.

Minors in Co. Action

Our minor football team make the long journey to Clondrohid on Monday next, October 25th, Bank holiday, to take on the home side in the county Minor League. The game is fixed for 4pm – if there is any change players will be notified.

Congratulations Castlelyons

Well done to Castlelyons on winning the Co. U-21 ‘B’ hurling championship at Pairc Uí Rinn on Saturday evening last. They had a great 1-15 to 0-11 win over Ballinascarty to complete a 7 game campaign. This is the first year the Co. Championship have been played at U-21 ‘B’ level and both titles now put in Imokilly division with Erins Own on Friday taking the Football title and now Castlelyons the Hurling crown.

Club Development

Work is to begin shortly on the New Hurling Wall on our club grounds at Pairc Na Bride. This is Phase 1 of the Development Plan. The club is extremely grateful to the Parish Development Fund for their financial assistance with the project. Phase 2 of the Development Plan will be launched in a few months. It is an ambitious project but the club is aware that with growing numbers of players, modern top class facilities need to be put in place.

Table Quiz

The club is holding a Table Quiz in the Rathcormac Inn on Friday November 5th. Full details next week.

Bride Rovers Main Sponsor is the Rathcormac Inn.
