JUNIOR HURLING

Westarted our 2013 campaign with a home challenge game against Ballygiblin with apanel of 18 players some 2 weeks ago. We started slowly and foundourselves 2 points down in as many minutes, we got into the game throughStephen Boyce and Gavin O’Flynn and by half-time we led by 5 points to 4points. We started brightly in the 2nd half and two well taken points by JamesMurphy stretched our lead before we conceded a goal to allow Ballygiblin backinto the game. Enda Collins came off the bench and with his first touch had theball in the net for an excellent goal. From there to the end we were undersevere pressure and went behind by 2 points and in the last minute Enda wasunlucky to see his kicked effort being saved which left Ballygiblin victors by2–8 to 1–9.

For our second gameof the season  we travelled to Glanworth to take on Harbour Rovers onSunday last. It was good for the Club to have 22 players in attendancedespite 8 players being unavailable due to injuries and work and also dueto the fact the a panel of 20 players + had travelled to Dungarvan with theSenior Team.

Once again westarted slowly against very good opposition and found ourselves on the backfoot despite playing with the wind. We finally found our range and registered 4points before half-time. On the day we utilised the full panel again and wewere comprehensively beaten but it is good to get an opportunity in early matchpractise to provide hurling games for all players.
