Bride Rovers  GAA Notes.

Under 21’s lose Final.

For the second year in a row our u21 football team lost the East Cork Final. Under lights at Rostellan last autumn we lost out to Fr. O Neills and last Saturday we lost to Midleton.  Amazingly this was our first game in this competition as we had received two walkovers in the spring to reach the final. In Cobh on Saturday afternoon conditions were very difficult with a gale force wind blowing down the pitch. In the first half Midleton had the aid of the near hurricane wind. We played well in defending against constant pressure in this period. Midleton led by just 4 points at half time , 6 points to 2 points. In view of the conditions this was an outstanding display and left us in a great position at the break. Unfortunately our display in the second half with the elements was very poor. The turning point of the game came when we missed a penalty at a time when just five points separated the sides. After this the Magpies went on to score a further 1 – 2 while we added just one more point. At the end of a very disappointing game Midleton were East Cork Champions on a scoreline of 1    8   to  0  -4. We had high hopes in both under 21 hurling and football this year and in fairness a lot of work was put in over a ling period, but we have no silverware to show for our efforts.

Well Done Glanworth.

Congratulations to the Glanworth Junior Football team on winning the County Junior Championship last Sunday. In the 2008 semi final Ballygarvan defeated Glanworth but the harbour got sweet revenge in last Sunday’s decider. It’s been a great time for the Avondhu Division with the Fermoy hurlers winning the County the previous week. Well done to all the Glanworth players, mentors and club officials.

Congratulations

Congratulations to Sarah and Keyleigh Bermingham and Frank and Theresa Power, Kildinan on their recent wins in the
