Hurlers win Challenge game.
One of the teams tipped to win the Cork Premier Intermediate Hurling Championship, Ballyhea were visitors to Rathcormac on Saturday evening last for a challenge game. Ballyhea are of course the home club of our coach Jack Russell. Jack starred for his beloved Black and Whites for many a year. Currently they lead their Co League Group having won 5 of their 6 games to date. Ballyhea are in County Championship action v Newcestown on the same day we play Erins Own, Sunday week May 27th.
With many players recovering from injury this game was a useful workout with championship coming up. We wish Ballyhea all the best in their Championship first round.

DOWN MEMORY LANE- EIGHTY YEARS AGO.
On Sunday May 15th 1932 the Midleton hurling team came to Rathcormac for a practise game. An account of the game published at the time stated
The afternoon was beautifully fine, and a fine game was thoroughly enjoyed by a fair gathering. Play was evenly balanced, and during the hour some nice exchanges were witnessed.
Midleton led at the break by 2 0 to 0 4 but the Rovers won by 2 4 to 2 2. The Bride Rovers team lined out as follows John Healy (goal), Ned Hoskins, Captain, Joe Healy, Dave Hogan, Tom Collins, Bill Murphy, Jimmy O Brien, John Collins, Dick Ryan, Billy Barry, Jack Barry, Dinny Harrington, Maurice O Shea, Tommy Condon.
Interestingly the grandsons of two members of that team played in the League game v Ballinacurra last week. Niall Hogan and Gerard Healy are continuing the proud tradition of their grandfathers Dave Hogan and John Healy.
