Bride Rovers GAA Club notes & news round-up for the week.

Club Meeting

The Club has had two meetings since the New Year and remaining business left over from the AGM were dealt with, and preparations are underway for the season. Various sub committees were formed and the finalisation of team managements for the year ahead. Pat Barry will continue as manager of the Senior Hurling team and he will appoint his own selection committee. The U21 Football will be managed by Daniel Lane with selectors Brendan Walsh and Brennie O Driscoll.

The Junior Football has not been finalised as the club has requested a regrade to B for 2013 and we await a decision from the ccc of the East Cork Board.

The development plans for the new Astro turf playing surface were discussed and the Development/Finance committee will bring forward their plans to further meetings of the Executive. The Treasurer outlined the financial situation and various items of expenditure were approved for payment.

Membership fees are now due and must be paid to club treasurer before any game is played.

The Club extended its sympathy to the Johnson, Collins, Parle, Kelleher & O Keeffe families on their recent bereavements.

Mouthguards

The GAA’s national roll-out of the compulsory wearing of mouth guards in all underage grades up to and including minor for Gaelic football matches and practice sessions began on January 1st

If a player refuses to comply he can be sent-off and players will not be covered under the GAA Player Injury Scheme if they are not wearing a mouth guard.

Information on the use of mouth guards for clubs, parents and players can be found at; http://gaa.ie/medical-and-player-welfare/mouthguards/.

The GAA are also pleased to announce that an agreement has been reached to distribute GAA/GPA mouth guards. The product range includes both boil and bite mouth guards and custom fitted mouth guards. The boil and bite mouth guards are now available to purchase. They come in four categories of protection: bronze, silver, gold and platinum.

They are available for purchasing through the following local retailers: Supervalu, Centra,Lifestyle, Elverys O’Neill’s.

Senior Huling League.

The fixtures for the Red FM S H League have been released and can be viewed on the club website. Our opening game is v Carrigtwohill on March 17th though this game is likely to be doubled as a Championship game. Our second round is away against Douglas on March 24th and our third round at home to Glen Rovers on March 31st. (see www.briderovers.ie for full programme)

Camogie Club Equipment Appeal.

The Bride Rovers Camogie Club is looking for hurling helmets and small size Hurley’s to promote the game at under 6 and 8 levels. If anyone has such items the camogie Club would be delighted to get them.

Astro-Turf Available To Hire

The astro-turf pitch at Bride Rovers is available for hire by contacting James Bermingham on 086 8350741. Pitch is suitable for 5 a side teams and costs €50 per hour with lights.

GAA Season Tickets.

The 2013 GAA Season tickets are now on sale. The Ticket combines admittance to the National League games and first round championship game for either the Cork Hurling and/or football teams. The Ticket represents a huge saving on the individual ticket prices to each game. Full details onwww.gaa.ie/tickets

If you have any ideas for improving the website or suggestions for additions please contact us. If you have any old Club photos we would love to put them up on the website so please contact any Club Officer. We have very few photographs from the 1940’s and 1950’s and would seek any GAA related pictures taken in the parish during this period.

East Cork Board Meeting.

The first Board Meeting for 2013 was on Wednesday night with our delegates Tom Mulcahy & Brendan O Driscoll present. Preparations are underway for the commencement of the playing season in Imokilly.

Car Boot Sale.
