Junior Football Championship on Friday night.

On this coming Friday night March the 23rd we play the first round of the 2012 East Cork Junior Football Championship. The game is fixed fir Carrigtwohill, under lights at 7.30pm. Our football form to date has been very patchy. We’ve been playing in the East Cork JFL Division 2 while our opponents Aghada  are competing in Division 1 of the Avondhu Imokilly Inter Divisional League.

Our four games played to date have seen victories over Castlelyons and Castlemartyr and defeats by Glenville and Dungourney. Aghada are Senior in Football so many of the players available to them for the Junior Side will have played at Senior level last year. They are the strongest football club in East Cork fielding three teams each weekend with no problem. Our last outing was against Dungourney on Wednesday night week under lights in the East Cork League. Dungourney came out on top on a score line of 2-06 to 0-08 points. The team and scorers was  as follows : Frank Hogan, Jacob Macak, Brinnie O’ Driscoll, Jim O’ Keefe, Jason Pratt, Shane Kearney, Mike Kearney, Sean Ryan, Sean O’ Brien(0-02), Steven Boyce, Terry Broderick (0-03), Colm O’ Keefe(0-03), Stephen O’ Leary, Alan O’ Keefe, Damien Buckley. Subs Used. Kieran Wolfe and Ritchie Foley.

We had a very traumatic participation in this competition last year so hopefully the lads will be well up for the game on Friday night. Go for it lads.
