Footballers Open League Campaign with a Win

The Junior footballer team travelled to Castlelyons on Wednesday night last to play the hosts in their opening League game under lights. After a close and competitive opening 30minutes the Rovers led on a score line of 5 points to 3. The second half was a different story with the Bride lads in control throughout. Two goals from Jason Mannix and Stephen Boyce put a big change on the scoreline. We added a further eight points and  ended the game wining comfortably on a score line of 2-13 to 0-04 points.

The team on the night was: Ritchie Cahill, Gavin Flynn, Brinnie O’ Driscoll, Jim O’ Connor, Adrian Buckley, Liam Forde, Donnacha Carr, Shane Kearney, Michael Kearney (0-01), Jason Mannix (1-00), Terry Broderick (0-03), Sean O’ Brien, Colm O’ Keefe (0-02), Jerome O’ Driscoll (0-01) and Barry Johnson(0-02). Subs used: Alan O’ Keefe(0-03), Jacob Macak, Stephen Boyce (1-01), Frank Hogan and Damien Buckley.

The Junior footballers have their next game at home against Castlemartyr on Sunday 26th at 3pm.

In the East Cork Junior A Grade Football Championship we are to play Aghada. This game will probably be played during the month of March.

MINORS LOSE

Playing their second game in the Co MFL we were at home to Russell Rovers on Saturday evening last. The visitors proved too strong winning on a final scoreline of 3 13 to   2  3 . Team W. Finnegan, P. Noonan, E. Howard, J. Kearney, T. O Sullivan, J. Macak, S. Cotter, A. Buckley, D. Quinn, S. O Leary, C. O Connor, J. Buckley, L. O Leary, D. Moore, S. Walsh. Subs C. Howard & J. Barry. Our next game is Away to Ballinora on Saturday week March 3rd and we will probably be away to St. Catherines also on Monday March 5th.

Executive Meeting

Monday nights meeting was cancelled because of a flu epidemic. WE hope all concerned are ok once more. The meeting will be rescheduled next week.

Co. Scor Final

We are involved in the Novelty Act section of the County Senior Scor Final this weekend. The final is on in Ovens on this coming Saturday night at 7pm. Congrats to the Rathcormac NS Novelty Act  team who qualified for the East Cork Scor na bPaisti final last Saturday evening in Watergrasshill.

Well the 2012 playing season is underway and the value is as good as ever at the Bride Rovers Club Shop. We have a huge range of Stock just in. Astro-Turf Available To Hire

The astro-turf pitch at Bride Rovers is available for hire by contacting James Bermingham on 086 8350741. Pitch is suitable for 5 a side teams and costs €50 per hour with lights.

2012 CLUB MEMBERSHIP

Membership of the Club for 2012 is now open. The Fee for Adult Players is €100, Students €40, Minors €30, Ordinary Club Membership €50. There is a special reduced Membership Fee of €20 for OAP’s. The Membership fees can be paid to any Club Officer.

SET DANCING  

Set Dancing has undergone a huge revival in recent years and it is great to see so many interested in this pastime. Weekly Classes in Set Dancing have commenced each Wednesday night in the Rathcormac Inn and all are welcome.
