HURLERS CHALLENGE GAMES

Our Senior Hurlers got their 2012 season underway at the weekend with two games. On Friday night they played Killeagh in a challenge game under the lights in Killeagh. This contest was to have been played the previous week but was postponed. It was a typical start of year game during which the lead changed hands several times.  In the end the game finished all square, 1-15 to 2-12, with Joe Deane getting the equalising score from a free in injury time.

On Monday night in Mallow, again under lights the seniors played a strong Cork U21 Team.  It was a good contest and we battled well for most of the hour. The Cork team finished the strongest and two  goals  in the last 5 minutes left them winners on a scoreline of 2  14 to 9 points.
There are further  games arranged against last years Premier Intermediate winners Courcey Rovers  and Tipperary side Mullinahone in the coming weeks before the league commences on 11th March with a home game to Douglas.

Minor Football

Our Minor Footballers have their second Co League game of the season on next Saturday next Fed 18th. WE are at home to Russell Rovers at 2pm. Depending on weather and ground conditions the game will probably be played in Pynes Field.

CORK DEFEATED

It might be only February but the magic of Cork and Tipp never dims. In the Waterford Crystal Cup semi final the old rivals met for the first time this year. It took extra time before the Premier County emerged victorious and qualified for the final v Clare. It was a largely ‘new look’ Cork side and the performance augurs well for the year ahead.

HARD LUCK CHARLEVILL

It was a case of ‘so near and yet so far’ for the Junior Hurlers of Charleville at Croke Park on Saturday evening last. Seeking a first ever All Ireland Club Title the North Cork, Cork and Munster Champions lost by a single point to St. Patricks of Ballyragget of Kilkenny.

SET DANCING

Set Dancing has undergone a huge revival in recent years and it is great to see so many interested in this pastime. Weekly Classes in Set Dancing have commenced each Wednesday night in the Rathcormac Inn and all are welcome.

The Bride Rovers GAA Club main sponsor is The Rathcormac Inn/Conversation Piece.
