U11 Hurling Final

Castlelyons 3-3 Bride Rovers 2-2

We played Castlelyons as home on Wednesday the 4th of August in what was a very exciting game. Patrick and Shane shared the goaly jersey on the night and both proved that they are very capable between the posts and out field. Castlelyons were first on the score sheet scoring 2-2 before we got into our stride. Our backs Mark, John, Conor, Adam and Jordan were battling hard and were under constant pressure as castlelyons were attacking at every opportunity. Eoin Griffin and Shaun were pushing forward at every opportunity but the castlelyons defence were proving hard to pass. We in introduced a number of Subs Richard, Ciaran, Dean, Peter, Beineon and Ryan all playing their part. Conleth scored a pt and Kieran Kearney scored 1-1. Castlelyons got through to score another 1-1 before a lovely pass from Brian put Conleth through for a goal the final score of the game. A great performace from all.

U12 Hurling

St Catherines 7-5 Bride Rovers 6-7

I think the score line tells it all in this game. It was end to end stuff in what proved to be a nail biting game. Catherines were quick off the mark and scored 2-2 before we had a chance to settle into the game. Shane O’Flynn had a great game in goal saving a number of shots that everyone thought were definite goals. Our backs Jordan, John, Dj, Jack and Brian were under constant pressure but were settling into the game at this stage. We pushed forward with Conleth and Shane O’Connor scoring points and Jessie scoring a goal. Mark was unlucky not to score a goal when his deflection went just wide of the post. Catherines attacked again and scored another 2-2 however we responded well with a great pass from Brian finding Jessie who scored a goal and also sent another shot over the bar.

We started the second half strong Jessie scoring 2 points and sending a great delivery to Conleth who sent it to the net. The rovers showed great potential in their passing when DJ took a free from the back line sending the ball straight to Leon who passed on to Jessie and he sent the ball straight over the bar.  Jessie sent a high ball into the square and in fairness you couldn’t pick which one of the forwards scored this goal as they were all attacking as one. Griffin and Eoin were working tirelessly at half forward chasing everything. Patrick was introduced in the back line and assisted a back line that was being put under a lot of pressure. Jessie scored another point but Catherines were battling hard and got through our defence to score 3-1. We did attack a number of times Shane O’Connor and Conleth scoring goals. The game ended with the narrowest of margins between the teams.
