U12 Hurling Final

Bride Rovers 2-6 St Catherines 0-4

We contested the U12 East Cork Final last Friday in Dungourney. Our opponents on the night were St Catherines who had narrowly beaten us in the League earlier in the year so an exciting contest was expected. We were first on the attack but were finding it hard to score Catherines were pushing forward but Shane O’Flynn in goal had an outstanding game bringing off save after save throughout the match. He was assisted in defence by Adam and John who were well tested on the night but were up for the challenge. St Catherines scored the first point of the game from a free. Both teams drove a number of shots wide Shane O Connor had a shot on goal which was saved before we got on the score sheet with Jessie scoring a goal from a free. St Catherines attacked again but could find no way through as Jack DJ and Griffin were putting up a solid performance leaving no way through to goal. St Catherines scored 2 points before Dylan sent a great pass to Jordan Service who sent the ball crashing to the net. Both teams finished the half with a point each from frees Jessie scoring for us. Half time 1-1 to 4 points we were ahead but all to play for in the second half.

We started the second half strong with Brian and Leon at midfield working tirelessly assisting in both defence and attack. We were awarded a free which Jessie sent over the bar. Conleth was playing well sending ball into the danger area. Dj sent a great pass to Jessie who scored another point he also scored a point from a free. Eoin, Patrick, Mark and Jordan Mannix were all introduced as Subs and played their part. We finished the game well with Shane O’Connor and Jessie linking up for Jessie to get another point and Dylan scoring a point from a free. We held St Catherines scoreless in the second half which is full credit to the whole team and showed just how much this bunch of lads wanted this result. Other subs were Dean, Dean, Tadgh

U13 Hurling

Bride Rovers 4-10 St Catherines 1-5

We played St Catherines on Monday night last in Ballynoe in the U13 Championship. We were first on the attack with Shane Walsh scoring 2 points. Adam and Killian were playing well on the wing clearing the ball out of defence. St Catherines were awarded a free and scored a point. Shane O Connor sent a lovely ball across the St Catherines square Ciaran putting pressure on the goaly and Leon scored a well deserved goal which Shane Walsh followed with another point. Dylan in goal was well tested and brought off some fantastic saves with Colm and Jack O’Mahoney assisting him in clearing his lines. Dale was chasing everything and sending the ball forward. St Catherines finished the first half with a point but we sent a number of balls wide.

We started the second half with some more wides before Shane Walsh passed to Dean who went on a run up the field before sending the ball over the bar. It was debated at one stage was DJ playing in the backs or forwards as he was up and down the field one minute assisting in attack the next in defence. Shane Walsh and Jack Conor both scored goals but St Catherines didn’t give up and pushed forward again to score a point. Griffin and Shane O’Flynn were introduced as half time and both played well Griffin doing some fantastic tackling and running at mid field while Shane O’Flynn scored a goal. Ben was also introduced as a sub.We finished well with Shane Walsh scoring 5 pts Jake 1 pt but st Catherines attacked again scoring 1-2. Well done on a great performance lads.
