U21 Semi final replay

Bride Rovers 3-10     Nemo Rangers  2-4

On Sunday morning last our girls took on Nemo in the replay in Glanmire. After drawing with them the last day after been up 4 Goals concerns going into the game  were that they might have missed their chance .However the girls proved otherwise and from the start put it up to Nemo. The Rovers have an extremely young team with only six of the starting team out of Minor ,the rest made up of 2 Minors,6 u16s and 1 u14 and our 4 subs 1 u16 and 3 u14.To say that the younger players were terrified going into the game would be an understatement ,having been succumbed to an on slaught from former Cork Minor Geraldine  Rea and u16 Cork player Amanda Budden  in the drawn game .Jennifer Barry had the game of her life at centre back  and marked Geraldine Rea out of the game ,causing her so much frustration that she got sin binned for 10mins.Amanda Budden suffered the same faith at mid field from the impressive  Grace and Eleanor .It was a game where a lot of players stood up to the mark  starting with Eadaoin in goals who is getting better with every game and made a fantastic penalty save at a vital stage in the game ,had Nemo scored it they would have been right back in it but instead it gave our girls the boost they needed. Our  backs Rebecca Maria and Avelina,Carol,Jennifer and Mary were under severe pressure for the first 20 mins of the game but never gave up and eventually turned the game around and dominated for the rest of the game time and time again clearing ball up field proof being they only conceded 1-2 in each half, and when Claire was introduced in the second half she slotted in as if she was their from the start fielding great ball and clearing ball out the field on several occasions.Nemo had no answer to Grace and Eleanor at midfield both covering unbelievable ground and Grace once again as in the previous game was our top scorer. Our forwards Martha, Sinead Elaine Jennifer Katie and Erin worked much better as a unit in this game with Martha a huge asset having got injured early in the first game. Sinead was called on for the free taking and having scored our first goal followed with two points, Jennifer scored two great points when moved to the full forward position  and score of the match came from Katie who scored a class goal in the second half .Trish also  played very well in the corner when introduced .
