Senior Football

Congratulations to our seniors who have qualified for the final of the Division 1B league against Boherbue, presently scheduled for Sunday, May 11th at 6pm. Preparations continued with a friendly game on Tuesday away to Eire Og. Details of both games will be in these notes next week.

 Junior Football

13-A-Side A County League Semi-Final

Bride Rovers 6-8 Mourneabbey 5-7.

We met Mourneabbey in the junior 13 a side league semi-final on Sunday in what proved to be a very close, hard fought encounter. The first half was very even, with both sides trading scores in a game that was end to end. The scoreline at half time was level 3-3 to 2-6.

We started the second half much better than our opponents, and established a healthy lead through some fine scores from players like Emma Roche, Meg Kelleher amongst others. Our defence was resolute throughout, with newcomer Rachel O’Callaghan & Aoife O’Riordan leading the way. And even though Mourneabbey grabbed a few consolation scores towards the end, we held on to win on a scoreline of 6-8 to 5-7. Up next are St Peters in the league final, which is set to be fixed for the coming weeks.

Team: Madison Parle, Grainne Noonan, Cynthia Buckley, Aoife O’Riordan, Evelyn Collins, Erin O’Keeffe, Rachel O’Callaghan, Karen Sheehan, Emma Roche, Katie Connor, Meg Kelleher, Sinead Walsh, Aoife Deasy, Elaine Culloty.

U16 Football

Thursday, May 1st, Rathcormac

Bride Rovers 3-13             Inch Rovers 1-4

We had a comfortable win in the U16 league over visitors Inch last Thursday. After our backs withstood some early Inch attacks, our forwards took over and kicked a succession of good points. Goals from Katie Quirke and Grace Culloty were added which left us with a good half-time lead, 2-10 to 0-2. The pace dropped off in the second half but a third goal from Emma Barry decided the issue and we saw out the match which now leaves us in a decent position in the league.

Match Panel : Madison Parle, Sarah O Flynn, Niamh Murphy, Maria O Sullivan, Cait McCarthy,  Laura Quirke (0-1),  Emma Hazelwood, Grainne Noonan, Emma Roche (0-2) , Jessica Howard, Grace Culloty (1-8), Michelle Lane (0-1) , Shauna O’Connell, Aoife Deasy (0-1) , Katie Quirke (1-0), Andrea Quinn, Shauna O Connell, Kate Cody , Aisling Finnegan, Emma Barry (1-0), Aoife Howard, Rachel O Flynn.

Everyone at the club offers their sympathy to the O’Connor family on the passing of Denis recently. May he rest in peace.
