Senior Ladies Football

Monday, March 19th at Rathcormac

Bride Rovers 2-13             Gabriel Rangers 0-12

Our senior ladies footballers emerged victorious from their first ever senior league game last Monday on our own pitch when Gabriel Rangers from West Cork were the visitors. No easy game can be expected at this level and this proved to be no exception. Gabriel Rangers had the advantage of a strong wind in the first half but an early goal from Elaine Dee meant that we were well in touch at half-time, trailing only by 1-4 to 0-10. We managed to turn the game around in the second half with the advantage of the elements when we outscored the opposition by 1-9 to 0-2. Fitness did not seem to be a problem for our girls even at this early stage of the season which is a compliment to the management team of Diarmuid, Sean and Shane.

Our U14s failed in their bid to qualify for the 2012 Feile at Fermoy on Monday, March 19th. We got off to a slow start against the hosts Fermoy and were well beaten. We rallied for our second game against Rockban and drew a game that both sides had good chances to win. In any case, we failed on points difference to proceed in the qualifying competition. Thanks to all girls who turned out early on the Bank Holiday morning.
