Bride Rovers Ladies Football & Camogie Club notes.

November 8, 2018

Intermediate Football
The intermediate team beat Eire Og on home soil on Sunday last on a scoreline of 2.11 to 1.4.  This was a very physical battle and many soldiers on both sides had to come off injured.  Both teams were evenly matched up to half time where Rovers led 1.7 to 1.3.  A penalty kick well executed by Sinead Walsh in the opening minutes was the main difference between the two sides.  The game was a very start stop one and this continued in the second half where Rovers outscored Eire Og by 1.4 to 0.1.  We wish a fast recovery to all our players that are carrying injuries at the moment. Our league campaign continues next week with an away fixture to Naomh Fionnbarra (Ballingeary) in Inchigeela pitch at 2pm on Sunday.  Following this there are still three games to fulfil namely Rockban, Nemo Rangers and Inch Rovers.  In between there will be an East Cork Semi Final against neighbours Watergrasshill. It is great to see the numbers remaining constant and is testament to the hard work being put in by all players that all fixtures are being played on time.  A real panel effort is required for a league that spans seven rounds over seven weeks.  Long may the dedication and commitment continue as the championship season approaches.  Training continues on Tuesday and Thursday nights at 7pm.  New members are always welcome and we would encourage the addition of new members to the adult set up as there is a second team entered in the East Cork campaign for the 2011 season.

U16 Ladies Football.

Saturday, April 2nd. U16 East Cork Ladies Football League.
Bride Rovers 1-22             Carrigtwohill 1-3.

Our U16s enjoyed a comfortable win over an admittedly understrength Carrigtwohill at Rathcormac on Saturday, April 2nd. The Rovers point-taking in the first half was very impressive and our half-time lead of 18 points was never threatened.

U16 Match Panel vs Carrigtwohill: Madison Parle, Shannon Sheehan, Shannon Mulhall, Aine Cashman, Margaret Kearney, Mary Hazelwood (0-1), Lauren Friel, Clare Murphy (0-1), Rebecca Howard (0-2), Karen Sheehan (0-1), Patricia O’Sullivan (0-2), Erin O Keeffe (0-1), Elaine Culloty (0-1), Jennifer Cahill (1-6), Katie O Connor (0-7), Rose Twomey, Cliona Murphy, Sheila Walsh, Megan Geaney.

U14 Ladies Football & Camogie

Monday, April 4th. U14 East Cork Ladies Football League.
Aghada       5-10          Bride Rovers     4-1.

Bride Rovers U14s were defeated in round 4 of the East Cork League in Rostellan on Monday evening, April 4th. This game was played in terrible conditions, strong wind and rain, and great credit is due to both panels of players who turned out and tried their best in the circumstances. Aghada’s better point taking in the second half, when they had the gale-force wind at their backs, was effectively the difference between the sides.

U14 match panel vs Aghada :  Madison Parle, Aoife O Riordan, Marion Walsh, Aoife Howard, Niamh Murphy, Aoife Deasy, Gillian Buckley, Aine Cashman (0-1), Margaret Kearney, Meg Kelliher (1-0), Maeve Ahern (1-0), Karen Sheehan, Elaine Culloty, Laura Quirke (1-0), Emma Roche (1-0), Mairead O Leary, Sarah O Flynn, Maria O Sullivan, Jessica Howard, Laura Pratt.
