On Saturday evening last the ladies and juvenile club held a very successful social for the u8 and u10 boys and girls in the community hall .The music on the night was provided by DJ John Radley who did a fantastic job entertaining the children for 2 hours With lots of spot prizes on the night and a goodie bag for each child its fair to say everyone went home happy. Our u8 &u10 girls received medals on the night and it was great to have our two Cork senior girls Grace and Eleanor present to make the presentations to the young girls .Thanks to Catherine Howard and Claire O Flynn for all the work organising the social and to the Community council for the use of the hall.

On and off the playing field it has been a great year for the club. Our Intermediate girls won the East Cork and the junior camogie team reached the county final loosing out by the narrowest of margins .All of our underage teams accounted very well for themselves with the u10 and u12 girls winning East Cork football titles and the u11 camogie team winning an East Cork title also.

On the intercounty scene it was a first for the club with Grace Kearney and Eleanor Ahern making history becoming the first club players to make the Cork  senior ladies football panel and winning a Munster and National league medal. Jennifer Barry and Jennifer Cahill represented the club on the Cork u16 team who lost out to Kerry in The Munster final and Jennifer Barry also made the Cork u16 Camogie team .Trish O Sullivan won an All-Ireland medal with the Cork colleges camogie team.

The club held some very successful fundraisers during the year and thanks to everyone who helped out with these. Thanks to all the trainers of the various teams who give of their time willingly and to all our delegates who attended the East Cork and county board meetings.  We would like our various sponsors  O Coilean’s bar once more came on board in 2010 to sponsor our Intermediate girls and during the year we received two sets of Jerseys from Spar Rathcormac and Fitzy’s fast food and to the many other business that helped us out during the year. The club is growing in numbers every year so we are always looking for people to help out in any small way. We would especially appeal to the parents of the u12 u10 and u8 age groups to get more involved in the day to day running of the club .Our AGM will be held in January and we would hope one member from each family would attend.

As we come to the end of 2010, I would like to thank my fellow officers for all their help throughout the year .Thanks to the Avondhu and evening echo for publishing our notes every week .Thanks to all the officers of both the Adult and juvenile clubs for all their assistant and to John Murphy our grounds man for all his help.
