31 August 2010. East Cork Ladies Football U12 Plate Semi Final.

Carrigtwohill   1-1.            Bride Rovers 5-7.

Bride Rovers U12 girls enjoyed a comfortable win in the East Cork Plate semi-final when they travelled to Carrigtwohill and defeated the hosts on a scoreline of 5-7 to 1-1.

Early goals from the Rovers set us on the way to victory and a hard-working Carrigtwohill side couldn’t bridge the gap for the rest of the game.

While we were strong in attack, the backs were equally so as can be seen from the low number of scores conceded. All substitutes came on and played their part fully as well. There are still many games coming up for both of our U12 teams including more East Cork Plate games and the East Cork Championship.

Wednesday, Sep 1. U12 Ladies Football East Cork Plate.

Bride Rovers 6-10             Cloyne 1-0

The value of organising a second U12 team this year was clear to all after this group of players enjoyed a fine win against Cloyne in Pynes on Wednesday, Sep 1. In fairness to Cloyne, they are just getting going this year with ladies football at this grade and they battled well throughout but the Rovers’ advantage in experience was always going to prove crucial.

Rovers had fine performances throughout the field with our backs keeping the opposition scores down while our forwards were free-scoring from start to finish. Starting at the back, Cliona Kearney made several fine saves in goals to prevent almost certain scores especially at the start of the game while we were finding our feet. Shauna O Connell had one of her best games yet at centre-back, intervening very many times to break up attacks and setting up forward movement of our own. She was well supported though, by Emma Barry, Ellen Twomey, Aislinn O Connor, Aisling Finnegan, Siobhan O Sullivan and Jessica Howard. Arianne O Flynn and  Sinead Kearney, both part of the U10 contingent on the team, were generally on top at midfield. The spread of scores from our forwards was very broad. Every single forward scored, with Selina Cotter, Emma Hazelwood, Mairead O Leary, Sophie Quirke, Emily Larkin, Katie Quirke and Rebecca O’Brien all prominent.

U16 League final

Bride rovers 2-8 Midleton 5-5

Well done to all 18 players who put in a wholehearted performance under such bad conditions on Sunday night last in the league final against Midleton. From the throw in the rain pored down and credit to both teams for such a great game. At the final whistle we were level on scores 10 a piece but Midleton had the luck getting the goals where we got the points. We lost by 6pts but for anyone present on the night this game went down to the wire with Midleton getting two goals in the dying minutes. Not to take from their win but credit to some of our girls Shannon Trish and Dayna  who were sick on the night  and still togged out and played. Jennifer Barry is carrying a knee injury at the moment and shouldn’t be playing but again showed her dedication to the team and had a superb game our top scorer on the night .Jackie our captain went to huge trouble to get off from work to be there again showing her dedication. Thanks to all the Rovers supporters who were in Carrigtwohill to support the girls on such a bad night. U15 Camogie

Bride rovers 1-7 Youghal 1-1

We beat Youghal in our second last game of the u15 league/championship on Mon night 30th at Rathcormac.Once again our girls battled hard as they had done in their previous games against Killeagh and Catherines, We had Dungourney to play on the Tues night but due to a mix up they never showed up for game so Killeagh and ourselves finished 6pts each but because we beat Killeagh we finished on top and now play Carrigtwohill in the semi –final and Killeagh play Sars.
