Bride Rovers Ladies Football & Camogie club notes.

November 8, 2018

Bride Rovers 3-7      St Catherine’s 1-1

Our u15 girls played their first game of the East Cork league/championship against St Catherine’s on Tuesday night last in Rathcormac.A game similar to our football game a couple of weeks ago where  every single girl played her heart out and worked for the entire match as a team.It is a game of 12-a side with unlimited subs so all 15 girls rotated on and off for the full match .Rebecca had her first game this year between the posts and once again proved what a natural eye she has for the ball clearing her lines on several occasions and delivering great long range puck outs. In  all we had 6 backs ,Shannon ,Cliona,Lauren,Brianne ,Aine and Margaret on the night and the score was proof of their good defending with Catherine’s only managing to get past for one goal. Midfielders of Mary ,Chloe and Trish showed  some class skill on the night and it was clear that these girls had been playing all year ,Mary and Chloe with the Junior team and Trish with the Cork Colleges .Up front we had five girls Katie who had a stormer in the first half scoring a great point but had to go off at half time sick ,Karen Shannon S , and Erin  battled throughout  and  gave the Catherine’s girls a tough hour of it Jennifer  had an absolute stormer scoring 3-4 of our total and the St Catherine’s goalie had no chance for any one of the three goals all three were raspers of shots. Erin was elected captain for the competition and Shannon Sheehan vice captain.

Junior Camogie Championship

Bride Rovers  1-5  Sars 1-4

Our Junior girls defeated Sars in the championship on Thursday  night last in Riverstown by the narrowest of margins. This would be Sars second team but a lot of their players would have played with their Senior team over the years and thus would have  a lot of experience .We would have a mixture of youth and experience and for some of our younger players it was a baptism of fire playing junior championship for the first time .An injury early in the game to Grace set us back a little but thanks to  our sideline medics Dr  Barry and Connor ,Grace was able to resume play for the second half. It was a low scoring game but for the supporters on the night  it was an exciting one ,a game that could have gone anyway in the dying minutes .We must now play St Fanahans and should we win that we will qualify out of our group ,Sars already having beaten them and only one goes through.
