U16 Ladies Football

Wednesday, May 10th, Mayfield

Bride Rovers 3-6         Aghada 0-12.

Bride Rovers U16s qualified for a U16A league semi-final, an U16B league final at least, and county championship competition in the autumn when they defeated Aghada in a very tight play-off game in Mayfield on May 10th. This fixture was highly important because it is critical that our players continue to compete at the highest levels possible throughout the year and this win secured that. Our backs and midfielders were excellent throughout and notably prevented the concession of goals to Aghada. This included an excellent save by goalkeeper Madison Parle in the closing minutes. This factor was key to Rovers winning this game. Forwards often steal the headlines because they get most of the scores but there is a lot more to the game than that. Well done to captain Lauren Friel and all the panel and to their mentors. Everyone worked very hard during the group league games and got their reward on Wednesday night.

Saturday, May 12th, Pynes Field.

Our U16s were comprehensively defeated by a very strong Midleton side in the league semi-final at Pynes last Saturday night. Nevertheless, our girls put up a good performance and have a B league final against Glanmire to look forward to, probably after the exams. We wish both Fermoy and Midleton the best of luck in the A final.

U14 Ladies Football

Sunday, May 13th, Fermoy.

Hot favourites Fermoy duly qualified for the A league final when they defeated our U14s in the semi-final at Fermoy pitch. Best of luck to Fermoy in that final. We now face Inch Rovers in the B final at home, which is presently scheduled for Monday, May 21st. We have also qualified for the B grade in the county championship which will be coming up in a couple of weeks, probably during the weekend of May 26/27.

U12 Ladies Football

Upcoming fixture : East Cork U12 League vs Inch Rovers, at Killeagh on Sunday,May 20th at 12 noon.

U14 Camogie

We travelled to Na Piarsaigh on Sunday to play in the under 14 camogie feile . We played Aghada in our first game and the score line did not do the game justice as Aghada gave us a very hard game. In the first half we were playing against a very strong breeze but our girls  fought for every ball and at half time we were 2goals 1pt ahead to no score. In the second half our girls really woke up and with the wind at their backs the scores starting to come quickly with the final score being 6 goals 2 points . In the second game, we were up against the host club Na Piarsaigh. They had the wind advantage in the first half and our girls defended fantastically, only conceding 1goal 3 points. In the second half our girls played fantastic and Na Piarsaigh only managed to get 1 point. We failed to score but the girls can hold their heads up high as their performance was brilliant. Well done girls
