Under 10’s
The U10 girls from Ballygarvan recently took part in the Declan Crowley Blitz hosted by Ballinhassig. Ballygarvan got off to a rocky start being defeated by a strong Ballinhassig side. Things only got better from there as the girls got into their stride and displayed some fantastic heart, determination and skill to defeat Valley Rovers and Barryroe to qualify for the sheild semi final. Ballygarvan were then drawn against Carrigaline, and although having played three games, they never tired and continued to impress earning themselves a well deserved spot in the final against St.Finbarrs. With only twenty minutes seperating them from victory, Ballygarvan pulled out all the stops and ran out winners of this game. From the goal keeper right up to the corner forward, each player put in a huge effort and contributed to a great team performance on the day. Congratulations to all involved and thank you to Ballinhassig for a very enjoyable and well run day.

Under 16’s
The under 16’s were drawn against a very strong Brian Dillons team in the County Championship competition. They started well, narrowly missing some goal chances which were saved by the excellent goal keeping of the Dillon’s net minder, who kept a clean sheet until the dying minutes of the game. In the first half they scored a respectable 5 points, but only penetrated the defence on two occasions in the second half. While all the girls worked tirelessly throughout the match and can be proud of the high level of skill demonstrated, it was always going to be an up-hill struggle given that so few of the team were up to the age.
