U11 Camogie Round 9 -v- Whitehall Colmcille
On another wet morning we headed for Ellenwood Park to play Whitehall Colmcille. The thunderstorm abated and by the time we made our way across the park the rain had stopped. Due to school closures and communions both teams were without certain players but this did not deter either team. We took control of the game from the start of the match. At half time with a comfortable lead the team coach asked the girls to concentrate on lifting and striking the ball. Roisin MacLoughlin obliged and took two wonderful scores from the hand in the last quarter. Katie Grimes struck a lovely 45 over the bar and narrowly missed another. Again all the girls played their part and none more so than two new players to our panel Niamh Lakes and Carolyn McGuirk who played their first camogie match for Olafs on Saturday. Niamh is already an established player on the U11 football team as are many of this camogie panel. Carolyn, new to the game was awarded ‘player of the match’ for her second half display in attacking and winning the ball and following through afterwards. At this stage of the season we are half way through the league and must now play our return matches.
Panel:
Jordan Bent, Niamh Brennan, Katie Grimes, Niamh Lakes, Sadie Lannigan, Roisin MacLoughlin, Sadhbh Maher, Rachel Morris, Eilis Murphy, Emma O’Higgins, Carolyn McGuirk and Shauna O’Connell
