Castleknock short film

Castleknock GAA Club is the subject of a short film that will air as part of the Sport Matters series which is broadcast on the Setanta Ireland channel.

The short film, called 21st Century Club, will be included in the next episode of Sport Matters on Setanta Ireland on Tuesday March 3rd next at 10.00pm.

The programme looks at how Castleknock GAA Club has achieved such success in a short space of time through the dedication of parents and the community. Club members Mags Healion, David Leydon and others look back at the foundation of the club in 1998 and the growth of the ladies’ and men’s teams.

Following the film, presenter Ger Gilroy will be in studio with guests to discuss how people can make sport work within their communities.

The Sport Matters series on Setanta Ireland examines the nation’s obsession with sport and explores the social, political and economic forces that are shaping and defining sport in the 21st century.

Other programmes in the series will explore the emergence of sports psychology as a key factor in winning, brand Munster and a range of other topics to reveal why sport has come to matter to us so much.

Sport Matters is funded through the Broadcasting Commission of Ireland Sound & Vision Fun and is broadcast in Freeview. Subtitles are available for the series.
