Championship Update July

November 7, 2018

As we enter the second half of July all our club teams are competing at various stages of the north, mid, and county championships.  Here is a quick round-up of each team’s progress:

Senior:  The draw for the second round of the county championship was made last week and Moneygall were drawn against the losers of the mid semi final replay between Drom Inch and Loughmore Castleiney.  That replay will take place this Saturday evening, with Moneygall’s match against the beaten semi finalists likely to be played the following weekend.

Junior: Having beaten Borris-Ileigh in our first group match, we will play Toomevara in our second game of the north championship this Friday evening in Toomevara.  Throw-in time is fixed for 7pm.  Our last group match will be against Kilruane MacDonaghs with three of the four teams to qualify for the knockout stages.

Under 21: We have yet to commence our mid U21 A championship campaign.  We will play Moyne Templetuohy Og in the first round.

Minor: Clonakenny/Moneygall made it two wins from two in the mid championship on Tuesday night, beating Moyne Templetuohy Og by 2-9 to 0-13 in Templetuohy.  On Sunday next we are due to play JK Brackens in Templemore in round four, with throw-in at 7pm.  Before the break for leaving cert exams we had also qualified for the mid minor B football final against Drom Inch – no fixture has yet been made for this match.

Under 16: We had a bye in round three of the mid championship this week.  We will play Moyne Templetuohy in round four next Tuesday evening in Templetuohy.  We will play Boherlahan Dualla in round five (July 29th), and our round one fixture against Durlas Og has also been rescheduled for August 2nd.

Under 14: Moneygall will play Roscrea in the quarter final of the north U14 A championship.  The match will be played in St Flannan’s Park on a date yet to be confirmed (on or before July 25th).  The winners will meet Newport in the semi final.  In the other semi final Kilruane MacDonaghs await the winners of Nenagh Eire Og v Toomevara.

Under 12: We will play Portroe in the semi final of Group 3 of the Premier 12s hurling on Friday week, 27th July (venue to be confirmed).  In the other semi final, Lorrha will play the winners of Ballinahinch v Templederry.

Under 10, Under 8, Under 6: Training continues for our Under 10s and Under 8s on Thursday evenings at 6.30pm.  It is hoped to start a club league for our U10, U8 and U6 hurlers next Monday evening at 6pm.
