SENIORS

The Seniors continued their great run with a 1-13 to 0-10 victory over a strong Mullahoran side in O’Raghallaigh Park on a sunny Wednesday evening.  However despite the seemingly comfortable victory, the Stars will know there is still plenty of work to do ahead of the Championship as a less profligate Mullahoran attack could have saw the outcome easily reversed. For a report and some pics, please click here.

The Championship is up next. First up is Cuchullains next Saturday evening @ 8pm in Virginia, followed by Blackwater Gaels in Bailieboro on Sun 1st @ 3pm and finally Redhills on Sun 8th @ 7.30pm.  Despite the super league form, these three matches will be a big challenge and we would ask for as much support as can go to cheer the lads on.

LIVE STREAMING

Last week saw Kingscourt Stars GAA break new ground for Cavan and Ulster GAA. On Tuesday 13th July @ 8pm we became the first Ulster club to stream live footage of a GAA club match on their own website –

After months of preparation, a rather run of the mill match took on a far greater significance. A challenge match between the minors of Kingscourt Stars and Corduff Gaels (Monaghan) was streamed live on the club website meaning that people all over the world had the opportunity to view the match (well it couldn’t be any worse than the World Cup Final!!).

As it happened the match proved a newsworthy both on and off the pitch with the visitors eventually gaining the spoils on a score of 2-19 to 3-14 (honestly!). Thanks to both management teams for consenting to the match, both teams for playing out such a game and finally to Pat Connolly and JC O’Shea for all their assistance in getting to this stage.

There are a few more problems that need to be ironed out and also consent is required from the teams but we hope to have another live match next month so watch this space…

UNDERAGE

The 8s are continuing their training on Sunday mornings and still going strong.  Always eager for challenge matches, if any other club is looking for same please feel free to give us a shout.  The 10s competed in the Go Games Blitz in Breffni last weekend with Cavan Gaels, Ballyhaise & Denn.  They continue to train on Monday evenings and have challenges lined up away to Rathkenny this Wednesday and Hunterstown on the following Wednesday.

The 12s are also competing in the Go Games Blitzes.  Grouped with Bailieboro, Shercock & Knockbride each club hosts a blitz between the same teams each Monday night.  Tonight sees us take the short trip over to Shercock.

The 13s have already qualified for the semi-finals of the championship with a 100% record to date.  Their final group game takes place this week against Castletara.  Finally, the 14s are training away ahead of the championship next month.

Sin é for the Underage and thanks to James for his usual comprehensive round up!

LOTTO

The lotto will hit €11,000 next weekend (€16,000 including bonus) after it was not won this weekend.  The numbers drawn were 04, 07, 09 & 23 (Bonus 19).  Niall Cassidy was the only Match 3 and wins €200. Next week’s draw is in Freemans on Sunday 25th July.
